Needle Felting Classes

Instructor: Sue Carey, Marble Meadows, Wallingford, Vermont.

Needle felting is the tangling and compressing of wool using a felting needle. Over the past 30 plus years, needle felting has given me endless hours of enjoyment. These classes are being offered to share my joy of creating using wool and a felting needle.

The following classes are arranged in order of easiest to hardest. (The first one in February is easier than the last in March.) Even if you are not interested in making the specific item, we will be going over processes that will be used in later projects.

February 15: 9 to noon

This class involves producing a Santa or gnome out of a premade cone of felted wool by adding textures and features. Wool roving is built up to create arms, facial features and hats. Special importance will be spent on crafting eyes.

February 22: 9 to noon

This class involves creating a simple bird ornament. First we will be building the wool roving into a bird shape. Next we will make flat felted material for wings and tails. After adding specific colors for field marks, the beak and eyes will be added.

$10 material fee for Sue and $10 donation to the Library.

March 15: 9 to noon

Mammal Making: The student can construct the 4 legged creature of their choice. This could be a favorite cat, dog, rodent, bear, fox etc. Please bring pictures. Also, you must let me know what you have decided because I need to bring the proper colors and materials. (suesmysercarey@hotmail.com)
